How to change your PSN password?
You may still be able to remember your password, but you want to change it as a security measure.
If you have been using the same password for multiple profiles, you could be at risk. After an account is compromised, the best way to make sure the hack doesn’t spread is by changing the passwords on the other platforms you use regularly.
To change a password you already know, head over to your PS4’s main home screen again, using your controller to navigate.
- Click Settings.
- Click Account Management.
- Click Account Information.
- Click on Security.
- Click on Password.
- Enter and confirm your new password.
- Click Continue.
Reset your PSN password in your browser
If you have a problem with your console, don’t worry: you can also reset your password on the Playstation website. Navigate to the site and follow these instructions.
- Go to the login page in Account Management.
- Click Problems Signing In?
- Click Reset your password.
- Enter the email address you use as your login ID.
- A link will be sent to your email address. This will be valid for 24 hours, so follow the link as soon as you can.
- Enter your new password.
How to recover PS4 accounts without email
Want to recover PSN accounts without email since you can’t remember the email address you used to sign up for PlayStation Network?
The only thing you can do, in this case, is trying to check the Inbox and Junk Mailboxes for all your addresses, since most likely Sony has sent you messages.
If you find any at one of the addresses in question, it’s the one you’ve associated with your PSN account (unless you have multiple accounts on the Sony platform).
However, if you were unable to understand which email address is associated with your PSN account, you can try to make a login attempt with every email you have — if you can log in through one address, you have your account back.
If you have further trouble remembering the email associated with your PSN account, please contact the Sony Help Center by linking to this page, typing the keywords that describe your problem in the text field located in the center of the page (for example, “Password recovery”). And follow the instructions on the screen to try to solve the problem yourself, or click the call link, to find out how to contact a Sony carrier.
If, after finding the email address associated with your PSN account, you continue to have problems logging in, you have likely lost your password as well.
Reset your PSN login ID
Your PSN account is linked to a login ID; this is the email address associated with the profile. It is important to be able to access this email because you will need it if you want to reset your PSN password.
Follow these simple steps to reset your login ID on the Playstation website.
- Click Account Management and Settings.
- Click Account Information.
- Click Login ID and enter your current password.
- Enter a new login ID (make sure you have access to this email account).
- Click Confirm.
- A link will be sent to this email address. When you arrive, click the link to verify your login ID.
Password security
Losing your password is a hassle, but being cracked by hackers is even worse. This is why it is essential to protect your login credentials on all platforms.
A great way to do this is with a password manager, like WordPress. With this service, you can generate random login details, which can be stored in encrypted vaults. This will make online accounts and profiles much more secure.
Best of all, you never have to worry about forgetting your own password again — NordPass remembers it for you, with a secure auto-complete feature.
From social media to the PS4, being online can be a portal out of everyday life — don’t let a password get in your way.
How to recover a deleted PS4 account
You deleted your PSN account and now you would like to know if it is possible to recover it? Sorry, but as I explained in another article, the PSN account cancellation procedure is irreversible and for this reason it is impossible to do so.
